(Study techniques for translating ideas into new R&D projects)

This project began with a Special Interest Session at the 1983 IRI Annual Meeting, during which four models for idea management were introduced. A summary paper was then prepared by researchers at the University of Cincinnati and published in RTM the following year. It was concluded that no one best system existed for the generation, capture, retention, and retrieval of ideas, but that it was important to have in place a supportive culture for new ideas and a mechanism to process ideas at each of these stages.
