Making R&D into a Sport
Anthony Goldbloom, Founder & CEO, Kaggle
In an age of big and complex data, competitions appear to be the best way to get the most out of a predictive modeling problem. Whereas a single data scientist can do so well on a problem, a competition brings in fresh eyes and new ideas, which allows companies and researchers to reach the limit of what's possible. Kaggle has hosted competitions that have improved the state of the art in HIV research, chess ratings and motorway travel time forecasting.
