A Journey in Changing Innovation Culture
Ann Savoca, PhD, Global Vice President, Technology & Innovation, Sealed Air
Sealed Air is a well-recognized technology leader in packaging systems for food, industrial and medical markets. About five years ago, the organization began a journey to leverage core competencies in material science and polymer processing outside of their traditional packaging markets and bring a broader portfolio of solutions to existing and new customers. With the establishment of a new business unit, a strategic innovation team and a redirected approach to opportunity identification, Sealed Air began to focus on their internal competency and leveraging their network of external inventors.
Ann highlights the changes Sealed Air made in R&D to meet the challenges of becoming a more global organization, and retraces the steps taken to refocus technical capabilities on more differentiated products in core markets as well as new market areas.
