How does packaging fit with R&D?
In your company, how are the packaging groups (including packaging innovation, design, engineering, testing etc.) set up organizationally? Are they part of R&D, Marketing or Production? – VP, global consumer products company

We include packaging development for new products as well as new package opportunities as part of the R&D team structured separately as a packaging development team. The process of putting product into a package remains the responsibility of engineering and operations.

Our Packing Innovation group and our Packaging Services group are both part of R&D, in our Applied Technology function. Packaging Innovation works very closely with our Brand Management organization and Packaging Services works very closely with Manufacturing.
