Brian is an executive technologist with 20+ years of experience in digital transformation and innovation. Brian’s passion lies in developing technologies at the intersection of science, information and business. As Head of Scouting and Partnerships, Digitalization of R&D at BASF, Brian is responsible for building collaborations with academic institutions, early-stage ventures and established companies to strengthen BASF’s digital capabilities, enabling the continuous advancement of science. He is currently focused on the role of digitalization in sustainability and how the enormous volumes of data available may still not be enough of the right data to enable the broad changes cutting-edge data science techniques offer. Prior to his current role, Brian was the Head of Computational Biology for BASF Enzymes, LLC, Director of Information Systems and Technology for Verenium Corporation, co-founder and partner of Coaliance and an independent technology consultant. Brian received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and English from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his Master of Business Administration from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
