Objective: Identify the impact of M&A on the R&D function

Following interviews and focus groups with representatives of over 30 companies, guidelines were prepared for senior R&D executives on planning and implementing the integration of R&D organizations as part of the merger and acquisition process. A Special Interest Session on "Integrating R&D Organizations During a Merger/Acquisition" was held to review these guidelines at the 2000 IRI Annual Meeting. This session was followed by a paper in the Sept.-Oct. 2000 issue of RTM and by a Workshop on "Technology Integration During/After M/A" at the IRI Fall Meeting in 2000.
