As the production of many global goods has shifted to China in the last few decades, it has become a global leader in manufacturing. At the same time, Chinese imitators have capitalized on opportunities to copy, manufacture, and sell copycat or imitation products, typically without regard for intellectual property (IP). Many global companies have either contemplated or actually begun to shift some of their operations to other countries due to China’s weak IP protection laws.
