Carolyn McMullen, Senior Scientist, Consumer Foods Products Research  The J.M. Smucker Company

Carolyn works for The J.M. Smucker Company and is the founder and first chairperson of the Pride Alliance, Smucker’s LGBTQ+ and Allies Employee Resource Group.  In addition to her leadership in the DEI space, Carolyn’s diverse professional experience makes her a valuable cross-functional team player at the company.  She is currently working as a consumer researcher in the Consumer Foods R&D business unit.  During her 13-year career at Smucker, Carolyn has also contributed as a consumer researcher in Coffee R&D, project manager on the Foods Marketing team, and in the Legal department where she supported advertising, labeling and claims compliance.  Prior to coming to Smucker, Carolyn obtained degrees in Organic Chemistry at The College of Wooster (BA) and Emory University (MA) and worked for 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a research chemist.  Outside of the office, Carolyn enjoys traveling with her wife, spending time with her college-aged children and logging miles in pursuit of the completion of her first ultra-marathon.
