A core mission of the Innovation Research Interchange (IRI) is recognizing the significant achievements of individual innovators. The IRI Medal, established in 1946, is presented to leaders of technology for outstanding accomplishments in technological innovation that have contributed broadly to the development of industry and the advancement of science and society. The Medal is awarded at the discretion of IRI’s Board of Directors at IRI’s Annual Conference. In 2021, the Board awarded the IRI Medal to Dr. Demis Hassabis.
