Open Prosthetics: Jonathan Kuniholm

As founder of StumpWorx, Jonathan Kuniholm is working to create an open-source design community to spur innovation in prosthetics.

I’m a mechanical and biomedical engineer and industrial designer. I was working in a nanotechnology lab at Duke University when my Marine Corps reserve unit was called up to go to Iraq. I was injured in Iraq, and after my return to school, switched the focus of my engineering work to prosthetic arms. I have spent the last several years as a designer and consumer advocate, and I have been fairly outspoken on the science and technology policy that surrounds prosthetic arms.
