This
subcommittee, formed with the objectives of updating the Technology Value
Pyramid of R&D Metrics (TVP), a framework for selecting R&D metrics and
establishing a self benchmarking architecture, shares its findings and output.

Beginning with
a brief overview of TVP and how it is used, the subcommittee then shares an
updated literature search on metrics spanning the period 1994 to 2009.
This will reveal how the focus of metrics may have changed as R&D
requirements have evolved.

During the
working life of this ROR committee’s work on Measuring R&D Effectiveness
several metrics surveys were conducted amongst member companies. Learn
the results of these metric surveys and compare and contrast the “popularity
contest” metrics from 1994 to a 2009 survey. In addition, attendees learn
the results from another survey revealing how the use of metrics may be
influenced by the innovation game a company plays.

Participants
have the opportunity to self-benchmark their own metrics and compare them
to the metrics used by other organizations in a real-time activity.
